You will be standing at the entrance scratching your head reading a sign that states "PARKING LOT FULL." However from a short distance you can clearly see 100 to150 open parking spots. If you arrive after 12 noon on most days you are out of luck. Which will eventually take you towards a half dozen signs leading you directly to the Aquarium.Īs you arrive at the Aquarium from either Federal or Market Streets you will notice an open air parking lot. Instead take the NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE (I-95 SOUTH) to exit 4 and navigate your way to 30 WEST. Avoid driving into Camden local roads-lots of lights, lots of traffic and a pure-waste of time. The battleship is a 6 minute walk from the Aquarium.įrom Staten Island NYC, Jersey City NJ or Manhattan the Adventure Aquarium is 79, 87 & 91 miles away respectively. ![]() However Philadelphia does not have a world class aquarium or the Battleship USS NEW JERSEY Museum moored on their side. Philadelphia has a much longer riverfront dedicated to tourism. It is located in a recently built up industrial park that overlooks the Delaware River and the skyline and riverfront of the City of Philadelphia. There's just not enough bang for your buck.Īdventure Aquarium is located in Camden New Jersey. Buy lunch and a stuffed penguin or two and you're pushing $200, a ridiculous price for a small aquarium. A lunch of a burger, fries and drink will run you $15 a person. The shark tunnel and aquarium were very cool for getting a close up view of these intimidating predators, and there were four different stations where you can touch a wide variety of creatures including sharks, rays, sea cucumbers, father dusters, lobsters, horseshoe crabs, and other invertebrates.įor $50, the aquarium would be a nice morning visit, but throwing in parking, a family of four must fork over $100 not counting food or the overpriced gift shop trinkets. They had many tanks with colorful, reef fish, which was a pleasant surprise. There are only four "zones" with a limited number of exhibits in each without crowds, the entire aquarium can be toured in 2 hours max (that's if you read the signs and actually try to identify the fish in each tank). The building is large, but there is much wasted space giving the impression that there is more to see than is really there. The aquarium would be miserable with large crowds. I took my 7th grade class to Adventure Aquarium yesterday, and due to a week a snow and ice, we had no crowds to contend with.
